Corporate Social Responsibility

We’re continually developing our responsible business strategy, focusing on having a positive impact on society, our employees and the environment.

Helping communities

We’re an active member of Business in the Community and sit on the Age at Work Leadership team. This enables us to influence attitudes and shape policies that will affect older people in the workforce.

We’ve established Home Instead Charities so that we can go beyond the normal remit of our company. Through this charity, we can bring even more joy to the lives of older people and help them feel more connected to the wider society.

Our public education campaigns and community initiatives – from dementia workshops through to ‘Be a Santa’ (our Christmas gift scheme) – are our way of giving something back to local communities.

Environmental considerations

As a responsible business, we encourage everyone in the Home Instead network to always consider how they can look after the planet, protect the environment and reduce their carbon footprint.

By carefully scheduling care visits, we can minimise the number of miles that our Care Professionals travel.

Our IT systems allow Care Professionals to view schedules and care plans on tablet devices or smartphones. This dramatically reduces the amount of paper used across our franchise offices.

We encourage our franchisees to purchase electric cars for care managers and other staff to use when visiting clients.

Employee engagement

Our employee assistance programme provides a wide range of services, such as counselling; occupational health; resilience; mental health; and access to a GP helpline.

Our Learning and Development programmes consist of both knowledge and competence-based development. They are complemented by a suite of industry-recognised CPD eLearning modules to which all Care Professionals and key players have access.
